Joel Camann for Texas House District 130
Meet Joel Camann
A native Texan, I am an environmental engineer specializing in industrial wastewater treatment. I understand the importance of protecting the environment and helping my clients do so in cost effective ways. My life’s work is to work with teams of people to find win-win solutions. I want to bring that common sense approach to Austin, finding solutions that benefit everyone instead of helping one group of people at the expense of another.
I am running to represent all well-intentioned Texans, who are trying to make better lives for themselves and their families. Like many of my fellow Texans, my views transcend the political divide, encompassing some elements of both Democratic and Republican party platforms.
Over the last 10 years, I have become dismayed by the direction of our state and country. Some Republican elected officials have aggressively and repeatedly flouted laws and societal norms with impunity. Meanwhile, their fellow Republican officeholders refuse to hold them accountable, abandoning traditional core values. Imposing tariffs based on a whim or using government institutions to harass and intimidate political opponents are not Texan values. As voters, whether Republican or Democrat, we must hold the party currently in power accountable, even if that means crossing party lines. This is the only path that moves forward in a way that serves the best interests of the people.

Issues
-
Ensure adequate funding and curriculum based on reality and inclusion free from political bias and falsehoods.
-
No woman should die because of Texas abortion laws – that is inexcusable.
-
Implement MULTIPLE solutions to help prevent mass shootings, including common sense gun legislation, background checks, and mental health services. Civilians should NEVER outgun police.
-
Health care is a right, not a privilege. Win-win solutions are needed.
-
It’s time for politicians to listen to experts rather than trying to create their own realities and politicize science, whether the issue is climate change, vaccinations, or drugs.
-
Physicians should be free to prescribe measures that help their patients.
-
My professional background as an environmental engineer makes me uniquely qualified to address water sourcing and water quality concerns.
